Afterwards we ate at a Japanese steakhouse and then my sister Ginny and I went to see Natalie Warner at the Naked Bean. That girl has an amazing voice! I really, really enjoyed her music and I liked every song very much. Go check out her EP "Song Bird" and her singles "Wonder" and "Until You Say So" on iTunes. Don't have iTunes? Well... WTF not? You can always get it on Amazon. If you want to see her lovely self singing, check out her music video for "I Will Take You Under" on YouTube.

Funny People and Natalie Warner at the Naked Bean
I saw Funny People tonight and I must say that even though we laughed several times during the movie, there was not nearly enough humor in it. It was darker and more depressing than I expected it to be. I still don't think Adam Sandler is funny, but Seth Rogan made me laugh. He's just a likable guy. I think that overall I'd give the movie a B-.
Natalie Warner
I'm going to see Natalie Warner tonight in Shreveport at the Naked Bean. One of my friends let me know about the gig and I've been listening to her music on MySpace ever since. She has a fantastic voice and I can't wait to see her live. Everyone should check out her music and purchase her EP on iTunes. I'll post more about her after the show tonight

Muse's new album: The Resistance
If there's one thing I want the entire world to know about me, it's that I'm a major fan of Muse. If their music were candy, I'd be really fat right now. I saw them twice during their super-long Black Holes and Revolutions tour, and I'm very excited about their fifth studio album called The Resistance, which is due out September 14th.
Their music is filled with their views on political power that make you want to stage a coup against the government, and even though Matthew Bellamy is very open about being an atheist, he sings about the trying of souls in most of his songs. I find that a bit unusual.
If you want to listen to two of their new songs, you can download "The United States of Eurasia" from their website (http://www.muse.mu/) and "Uprising" is now available on iTunes. Both songs are fantastic. "The United States of Eurasia" is a blatant nod in Queen's direction. Some of the guitar rifts and vocals sound like something straight from "Bohemian Rhapsody." "Uprising" has a strong beat and a wonderful synth line that reminds me of Doctor Who.
The Resistance Tour is slated to begin at the end of October and play throughout the UK, Scandanavia and Western Europe. I was very disappointed to hear this, but was soonafter pleased to learn that Muse will be opening for U2's USA tour before heading off on their own! Me and my best friend paid a hefty sum for two tickets in the nosebleed section just to see the opening act. I'm sure we'll stay a bit for the rest of the concert, even though neither of us are U2 fans. We're not U2 haters, though, so... yay!
If you want to listen to Muse, buy their CDs online or through iTunes. There are too many great songs for me to choose a favorite, but "Easily" and "Uprising" are currently my favorites.
The Welcome Note
lay·a·bout
n. A lazy or idle person; a loafer.
My name is Rebecca, and I am currently (somewhat) unemployed and living with my parents in Texas. Sound lame? Maybe so. But I think that my life is pretty full even though I haven't been able to jumpstart my career (I want to be a middle school teacher) or afford to live it up big in Louisiana (where I went to college - therefore, I've become attached.) So if I'm currently single, unemployed, childless, etc. etc. ... what could I possibly have to blog about?
Well, I'm an artist, DJ, movie/tv/book fanatic, and choral singer who does her best to fill up her free time. Plus I have opinions on things. So the answer to the question self-posed at the end of the former paragraph is: plenty. I also do a lot of traveling, so look forward to pretty pictures and fun stories.
Since I am at a bit of a standstill with my life, look forward to A LOT of retroactive posts on my adventures and travels from the past six years. I know I will.
